10 Top tips to make a good marketing campaign

  1. Establish your goals and objectives: You must have an aim for the campaign. What do you want to achieve? Why are you making this campaign?
  2. Define your strategy and tactics: From creating your goals and objectives you should therefore be able to figure out your strategy. If this was for a gym and you want to attract new customers, you strategy would be to attract 10 new customers within 28 days. You then need to devise tactics of how you aim to achieve this, which could be by offering 20% off memberships for the 28 days.
  3. Make sure you target the right people: Once you have defined your objectives and tactics, you must be clear exactly who your target audience is and make sure they will be interested in what you are offering. You can't be selling mobility scooters to teenagers!
  4. Make your campaign relevant: Don't design a campaign that won't appeal to your target customers. When you think of what you want your campaign to look like and what it will contain, think about who will be reading it.
  5. You must have an appropriate call to action! Your campaign needs to contain offers or promotions so your customer wants to take action. Make your offer catchy and relevant, all the while thinking about your target market and what would interest them.
  6. Keep it simple: Market Me Now have boxes you can edit with your own personal offers when you design your campaign. However, we have already offers within these boxes to help give you an idea how much you should write, and what offer would be suitable. Too much text other than the offer will make your customer switch off!
  7. Make yourself different: Make this campaign your own. Before you choose your offer, look at your competitors and make yours that little bit different. What are they doing? Your potential customers will be thinking why should I buy this, and most importantly, why should I buy this from you?
  8. Reveal your branding: Make sure your identity is easily recognisable to your audience within the campaign. They need to know who you are and recognise you again. If your business is easily recognisable by being black and orange, make sure your postcard has a black and orange theme!
  9. Tell them what to do: Make sure you look at the back of the postcard templates, and check the contact details are correct. If you have included a voucher code or an offer, have you made it clear what the customer has to do next? How clear is it? If it isn't easy to find then your customer won't do it.
  10. Follow up your clients: Some customers you have sent your postcard to may respond without any further communication. However, others may require a little nudge. If you're keen to gain your new customers quickly, follow up your postcards when you know they are due to arrive; there's no harm in trying.
